Abstract

976,777. Thermionic valves. STANDARD TELEPHONES & CABLES Ltd. Jan. 2, 1962, No. 119/62. Heading H1D. An electron discharge tube comprises a hollow cylindrical anode 1 forming part of the envelope of the tube, and a stem having coaxially disposed metal envelope portions 12, 15 spaced apart on the stem, a pair of parallel transverse metal platforms 10, 13 extending across the major portion of the interior crosssection of the stem and secured to the envelope portions 12, 15, a set of electrode support rods 6, 7 mounted on each platform, one set 6 passing through clearance holes in the other platform, the rods 6, 7 defining a cylindrical surface coaxial with the anode and having a cathode 5 mounted upon them. A control grid 17 may be mounted upon rods 18 carried by the tubular member 19. The rods 6, 7 may be supported by an assembly 9 upon the rod 8, and a similar support may be provided for the cathode 5. The spacing members 27, 28, 30 may be of ceramic or glass.
