Abstract

976,311. Road/rail crossings. BAU-STAHLGEWEBE G.m.b.H. Jan. 31, 1963 [Feb. 5, 1962], No. 3940/63. Heading E1G. Concrete slabs for paving rail/ road crossings are reinforced by three dimensional steel mats at least one of which is of open form and at least one of substantially closed form, the mats comprising longitudinal and transverse bars spot welded together substantially at right angles. As shown, steel reinforcements embedded in concrete slabs during moulding comprise two hairpin mats with long and short shanks 8 and 7 respectively, an inverted channel section mat 12 with downwardly and outwardly sloping limbs 10 ending in flanges 11, an inverted U-section mat 13, a narrow mat 16 below each rail-receiving channel 15 and mat 17 of substantially closed rectangular section. The ends of the elements forming the mats can be bent into hook form.
