975,891. Hearing aids. ELECTRIC & MUSICAL INDUSTRIES Ltd. Feb. 15, 1961 [March 18, 1960], No. 9686/60. Heading H4J. The microphone 1 of a hearing aid is so mounted in the temple-member 2 of a pair of spectacles that, when the spectacles are worn, the microphone is between the ear and the front frame, the smallest dimension of the microphone casing is vertical and the inside of the temple member is extended towards the side of the head to accommodate the microphone. The microphone opening 18 is on the underside of the temple-member. The microphone rests in foam plastic in a holder 12 formed with a nose 17 in which there is a rubber-lined orifice 19 giving access to the microphone opening 18. The hearing and amplifier 8 and the microphone holder 12 are secured to a common base to form a unit which can readily be removed from the templemember. The amplifier includes a volume control 9. The battery 5 is accommodated in a pivoted holder 6.
