Abstract

975,114. Repairing conveyer belts. I. LUDWIG, [trading as WAGENER & CO. MASCHINENFABRIK]. Dec. 1, 1961, No. 43032/61. Heading B5A. The ends of a thermoplastic conveyer belt 6 are joined or repaired by passing the belt between heating plates 1, 2 furnished with marginal cooling ledges 8, 9 which are separated by inserts 11 of low heat conductivity, or slots forming air gaps (see Fig. 3, not shown), which inserts 11 or slots extend right through the plates to the surfaces thereof in contact with the belt 6. The plates 1, 2 are heated electrically or by passing hot water through pipes 3 and the coolant is passed along rectangular pipes 10. The upper plate 1 is forced against the belt 6 by beams 5 adjusted by spindles. Specification 810,320 is referred to.
