Abstract

506,276. Hydraulic presses. CANNON, E. Nov. 24, 1937, No. 32376. [Class 69 (ii)] [Also in Group V] The platen 10, such as that of an hydraulic moulding press, is prevented from tilting by bushings 18 fitting closely on the guide rods 17, loosely in holes in the platen, and provided with flanges 19, 20 engaging parallel surfaces of the platen. The flanges 20 may be formed by nuts. The spaces 21 between the bushings 18 and the walls of the holes in the platen permit of expansion of the platen by heat. The platen is guided centrally by its being mounted on the ram 11 of the hydraulic cylinder 14. Rotation of the platen is prevented by guide bars 23 engaging in slots 25 at opposite edges of the platen.
