974,586. Securing wheels on hubs. A. A. BURRELL. May 10, 1963, No. 18501/63. Heading F2U. A sprocket wheel, spur gear or pulley B, splined at 16 on a reduced diameter end 9 of a hub A, is axially retained, against a shoulder on the hub, by set screws 18. The spline teeth 16 may be formed as shown in the bore of the sprocket wheel B or, for small wheels (Fig. 5, not shown), in a recess at one end thereof. The hub A may be formed with two sets of alternately spaced plain and threaded apertures whereby the set screws can be screwed into the hub or wheel for the fitting of a large or small wheel respectively.
