1,021,913. Screw and nut gearing. C. B. STRANDGPEN. June 28, 1963, No. 25764/63. Heading F2Q. A screw and nut device comprises an outer housing 1 having a longitudinal axis X in which two annular parts 5 and 6 are slidable and interconnected by splines 4. Rollers 16 co-operate with threads on the nut parts and on a central nut 14, end portions 18 and 19 of the nuts having straight cut teeth which mesh with rings 8 and 9 attached to the nut parts. A ring 12 clamps the parts in place. The profile of threads on the nut part 5 and roller 16 is as indicated in Fig. 2 (not shown), while the profile of the thread on the nut 14 (Fig. 3, not shown), is provided with flats 27, at or just beyond the d.p. of the thread and chamfered parts 28 which engage with the rollers 16.
