The head of a heat-resistant plug 21 secured in a piston opposite the outlet orifice 18 of a precombustion chamber is formed with a plurality of radial grooves 23 which meet at an apex 24. The grooves channel the burning gases from the orifice 18 into the combustion space 20 in separate streams.
