Abstract

974,176. Preserving eggs. PAKCEL Ltd. May 30, 1963 [June 18, 1962], No. 23329/62. Heading A2D. [Also in Division B8] Individual shell-less eggs are each placed in a flanged cup 11, shaped to locate the yolk 33, and a closure 16 is heat sealed to the flange. A series of cups may be closed by a sheet and enclosed by a further sheet. The cup and closure flanges may be joined by a heat sealing adhesive selected to give a relatively weak seam to facilitate opening. A suspension tab 29 may also facilitate opening. The closure may be applied in an atmosphere of inert gas and the package may be sterilised by irradiation. A domed configuration 12 locates the yolk. The egg may be cooked in the unopened package. The closure and/or cup may be transparent.
