Abstract

<PICT:0974150/C4-C5/1> A soap or detergent article, which is stated to produce a lather more easily and rapidly than the soap alone, comprises at least one bar of a C16-24-soap or of a detergent, particularly ball-shaped, cubic or rod-like bars, permanently enclosed in one or two smooth resilient nets of a hydrophobic thermoplastic polymer having slipfast meshes of average size 1-20 mm., preferably in a way such that the soap or detergent bar is movable within the net. The net is preferably a tubular one produced by extrusion of polyethylene or polypropylene (although other polymers are also specified) and suitably has an average maximum thread diameter of 0.1-2, preferably 0.25-1.2 mm., and forms rhomboid meshes with a width of 4-15 mm., the tube diameter in the slack state being 2-10 cm. The soap generally comprises 55-95% of the bar, and sodium polyphosphates, glycerol, super-fatting agents, scent, and dye may also be included; instead of soap, alkyl sulphate may be used. As shown in Fig. 3, a tablet of soap 3 is enclosed in a stretched net, the net ends 5 and 8 being formed by heat sealing.
