973,526. Spinning processes. T. M. M. (RESEARCH) Ltd. Nov. 14, 1963 [Nov.19, 1962], No. 43729/62. Heading D1F. Sliver continuously fed from one processing machine to another e.g. from the delivery rollers of a drawbox (itself fed from a battery of carding engines) to the intake rollers of a coiler, is allowed to accumulate in a storage receiver in order to compensate for lack of synchronism between the machines, particularly when the operation of the second machine is arrested. As shown, sliver 1 normally passes from feed rollers 2 to take-up rollers 3 along the path 4 but, when a completed package is doffed, rollers 3 are stopped and sliver which continues to be delivered by rollers 2 slides down an inclined floor 5, and accumulates in zig-zag layers at the bottom of a storage compartment 6: when the rollers 3 are restarted, the accumulation is gradually taken up by the tension draft between rollers 3, 2, until the sliver is restored to the path 4.
