In a rake-wheel type of haymaking machine comprising a frame 1 which supports rake-wheels 17-22 in a single row for side-delivery, rake-wheels are removed from the row in changing to a swathturning position and are transferred to one or more prolongations of the frame so that they form part of either one or both rakewheel groups in the swath-turning position. In Fig. 1, the frame 1 comprises two short beams. 3, 4 interconnected by a member 2 and carrying bearings 7 for rake-wheel cranks 14 which are resiliently suspended by springs 28 and chains 29. The two central rake-wheels 19, 20 are carried on spigots 8, 11 which can be unplugged from the full-line positions and re-inserted in the dotted positions 19A, 20A, for swath-turning. Pins 9, 12 hold the spigots in position on the beams. The drawbar 23 is arched and terminates in a pivoted extension 27 which may be swung into the position 27A for swath-turning. In Fig. 4, all the rakewheels are mounted on a single long beam 30 for side-delivery raking, but two of them may be transferred, for swath-turning, to an extension 47 hinged to one end of the beam 30 and capable of being folded over to lie parallel to the beam during sidedelivery. The suspension chains 39 for the rake-wheel cranks 35 are, in this construction, all connected to a rod 37 longitudinally slidable by means of a threaded crank 42. The extension also carries a similar rod 51 connected to the rod 37 by a chain 52 which permits the connection to be maintained when the extension is foldedover.
