Abstract

972,491. Resilient mountings; rod couplings. SILENTBLOC Ltd. Dec. 13, 1960 [Jan. 7, 1960], No. 673/60. Headings F2G and F2S. [Also in Division B7] A hand rail, adapted to extend from a ceiling to either a floor or seat, e.g. of a doubledecker bus, comprises a vertical tubular strut 10 which, as shown, is secured at its lower end to a tubular metal seat 11 and has keyed within its upper end a spigot 24 which extends into a bore 16 in a tubular socket 14 secured by a flange 15 to the ceiling a compressed ring 28 of rubber, or like resilient material, being accommodated in the widest portion of an annular space between the corresponding concave surfaces 19, 20 and 26, 27, respectively, at the lower end of the bore 16 and the spigot 24. A flexible joint may also be incorporated between the strut 10 and the seat or floor of the bus.
