972,392. Packaging-machines. NATRONZELLSTOFF - UND PAPIERFABRIKEN A.G. Nov. 12, 1962 [Nov. 25, 1961], No. 42587/62. Heading B8C. In a bag filling machine, the empty bag 8 is inserted via a slot 30 in a support 26 and held by an electromagnetically controlled clamp 9 on to the end of a filling nozzle 6. The bag is inflated by a blast of air from a pipe 7, and then filled to a level 28 from the nozzle 6. At this stage the roller 15 on the rotary arm 23 pivoted at 24 is swung up to support the bag during the remaining filling time. The pivot 24 is at the base of a load carrier 13 fastened to one end of a balance beam 11, having a weight 12 at the other. The end 22 of the arm 23 is attached to the push-rod of a compressed air cylinder 14, which controls the motion of the roller 15, supplied through pipes 17 and 18, with valves 19 and 20 respectively, and exhausted through outlets 21. During filling the bag is shaken to compress the contents by actuating the roller 15 from the cylinder 14, and when filling is complete this roller is swung away as clamp 9 is released to allow the bag to slide down the support 26 on to a conveyer 27. The sequence of operations is initiated by an operator pressing a switch and subsequent actions are controlled from mechanism attached to the balance beam, or by time switches.
