972,207. Producing composite metal sheets; Jointing by rolling. ALUMINUM CO. OF AMERICA. May 1, 1963 [May 3, 1962], No. 17147/63. Headings B3A and B3M. A method of producing a laminate of a ferrous sheet faced with an aluminium base alloy comprises assembling the ferrous sheet and a wrought laminate consisting of a layer of an aluminium base alloy containing 0.4 to 10% magnesium and a layer of magnesium free aluminium, the magnesium free layer being adjacent the ferrous sheet, and hot-rolling the assembled composite at a temperature of between 600‹ and 900‹ F. to band the layers together. The laminate can subsequently be heated to a temperature of between 600‹ and 900‹ F. to effect recrystallization of the magnesium free intermediate aluminium layer.
