Abstract
A composite metallic plate includes a titanium lamination bonded directly to a plate of dissimilar mother metal on at least one face, the mother metal being an iron-base alloy containing any one of Mo, V, Nb, W each 0.3-10% and Zr 0.3-6%, with balance Fe and incidental impurities such as .08-.12% C,. 18-.25% Si,.40-54% Mn, max.0.018% and 0.016% P and S. A stacked assembly of the above, preferably with a cover plate superposed on the exposed titanium face may be heated under an inert gas to 800-1000 DEG C. and immediately hot rolled to 50-80% reduction.
