Abstract

971,937. Reciprocating pumps. CASTROL Ltd. July 26, 1963, No. 29836/63. Addition to 844,130. Heading F1A. A bucket piston 25 is loaded by a spring 30 and carries a valve member 36 which seals the inlet 22 when the piston is in its lower position. The piston is actuated by a lever 49 through a rack and pinion 31, 41, the upward movement of the rack being limited by a stop 38. The piston delivers to an outlet chamber 57 having a spring loaded valve 59 seating on a shoulder 58 and controlling an outlet nozzle 67 comprising capillary apertures 68. Closing movement of the valve 59 withdraws liquid into the apertures 68 to prevent drip. A U-shaped wall 69 is provided with a flange 70 to receive and support a container to be filled by the pump. The lever shaft 40 may have a pointer indicating discharge quantity on a scale and may drive a totalisation. A lug 74 on the lever 49 may be used to lock the lever.
