Abstract
971,933. Furnace walls. H. JERU. Nov. 22, 1962 [Dec. 28, 1961], No. 44208/62. Heading F4B. A heat treatment or drying furnace comprises arched longitudinal side walls 2, 3 pivoted at 4, 5 and separable by winches 6, 7 to provide a loading opening 10 in the upper part of the furnace. Each of the walls 2, 3 comprises a frame carrying fixed inner plates having an insulated covering e.g. glass wool or refractory mineral wool, with an outer layer of hermatic material e.g. polyester. The end walls of the furnace may be fixed. In a further embodiment, Fig. 5 (not shown), wherein the furnace is heated electrically, heating resistors are provided in the end walls and furnace bed 1. This may be combined with a circulating hot gas system. The embodiment of Fig. 4 utilizes the products of combustion from oil burners 16 mounted outside of the furnace. The gases pass via conduits 14 in the end walls of the furnace, and passageways 13<SP>1</SP> in the pivoting walls 2, 3 to the furnace interior and are sucked out through a conduit 17 in the bed 1 of the furnace. These oil burners may be mounted along the outside of the pivoting walls 2, 3. The furnace may be spherically shaped and divided into movable segments.
