An electrical circuit for use with apparatus of the kind in which the temperature of an electrical detector filament is a function of a parameter to be measured of a medium in contact with the filament includes a Wheatstone bridge and a current supply source G which supplies constant current to the bridge. Two arms of the bridge are formed by the detector filament 1 and a comparator filament 2 in series between the output terminals A, B of the current supply source, and the other two arms of the bridge include resistances 3, 4 sufficiently high to ensure that the current through the detector filament remains substantially constant, so that the temperature of the detector filament remains a direct function of the parameter to be measured. The parameter being measured may be for example the temperature of a chemical reaction) or the apparatus may be used for determining the amount of a particular gas in a mixture of two or more gases. The supply circuitry G may take the form wherein a resistor 9 in the emitter circuit of a transistor 7 and the zener voltage of a zener diode 11 together define the constant current. A battery may be used instead of the Zener diode circuit to provide a defining voltage (Fig. 2 not shown).
