Abstract
971, 376. Weft stop motion for looms. K. METZLER. Feb. 22, 1961 [March 9, 1960], No. 6442/61. Heading D1E. A weft stop motion comprises, at each selvedge, a detector pin 52 round which the weft forms a loop as the shuttle enters the shed, thereby rocking the pin to open a microswitch; if the weft is absent, the switch remains closed and a loom stopping circuit is completed by a timing switch driven by the crank-shaft. At beat-up, a link 60 swings the pin upwards and forwards on parallelogram links 40, 45 to clear the reed. In other embodiments, the pin 52 and microswitch move upward and forward about a fixed pivot.
