971,325. Fastening railway rails. LOCKSPIKE Ltd. July 16, 1963, No. 28196/63. Addition to 861,473. Heading E1G. A railway rail fastening arrangement comprises a bent bar having its two ends 11, 12 fixed in the sleeper 3 and the portion between the ends forming two arches 13, 14, spaced by at least half the bar thickness, a fastening member of the type described in the parent Specification having a first portion 7 pressing upwardly on the two arches, a second portion 9 bearing down on the rail flange 1, or an intermediate member 5, and a third portion 8 on a fixed unyielding surface 15 outwards of the rail. The surface 15 may be part of the bar between the arches, this part being cast into the concrete sleeper or lying on the surface. The bar ends may be cast into the sleeper or be screw-threaded and secured by epoxy resin.
