Abstract

971,316. Elevated railways. LANG BRIDGE Ltd. Sept. 23, 1963 [Nov. 30, 1962], No. 45273/62. Heading B7L. A conveyer has trollies moved around an overhead track 10a provided by a rail 10 incorporating one or more drop sections 11, each connected to a winch 55 to lower the section 11 with a trolley thereon; for each drop section there is a pair of rail sections 15 pivoted at 16 to rail 10 so as to swing upwardly in the event of the drop section 11 being raised to an operative position above the level of track 10a, whilst providing for continuity of the track. Limit switch 68 is engaged by s top 70 carried by a tongue 26 fast with section 11, to stop the motor driving the winch when the section 11 is in the operative position, an overrun switch stopping the motor should switch 68 or a switch defining the lower position of section 11, fail. The winch cable 56 passes around a pulley 27 on tongue 26 and is fixed at 57 to a plate 51 which carries the winch &c. Stops 22 carried by rods 23 slidable relative to bridge member 12, 13, 14 are interconnected by bar 102 which rests on tongue 26 so that as the section 11 is lowered so are the stops on to track 10a to halt trollies on rail 10. A pair of latches 40, 44 are pivoted at 38, 39 to tongue 26, in the operative position the latch 40 abuts a fixed stop to pivot to the dotted line position to allow a trolley to run on to the section 11. The other latch 44 is raised on energization of an electromagnet 63 which rotates lever 66 to engage part 47 of latch 44 to allow a trolley to leave section 11. A switch 58 is closed by a trolley on section 11 and the motor driving winch 55 cannot be operated unless switch 58 is closed. Detents 36, 37, Fig. 2, slidable on shaft 34 and having pins 30, 31 in slots in tongue 26 carrying rollers 36, 37 abutting fixed guides 61, are moved apart by a spring 35 as section 11 is lowered to prevent rotation of the latches which hold the trolley on section 11. When the section 11 is raised the tongue 26 is guided between lateral guides, Fig. 3, not shown, and guides 60 on plate 51.
