970,637. Laminates. LIBBEY-OWENSFORD GLASS CO. Nov. 20, 1962 [Dec. 8, 1961], No. 43752/62. Heading B5N. [Also in Division E1] In a laminated pane having a transparent silicone thermoplastic interlayer 13 bonded to the inner and outer sheets 12, 11 and with the thermoplastic, coloured, if desired, built-up around the periphery of the unit to form a mounting flange 14 with, e.g. an aluminium reinforcing frame 15 around the unit, a portion 17 of the frame 15 is embedded in the interlayer 13 and another portion in the flange 14, a vapour impervious bond of, e.g., aluminium 0.05 inch thick being adhered to the edge of the sheet 12 and extending transversely through the material 14 to make sealing contact with frame 15 at 20 and a second similar band being adhered to the edge of sheet 11 and having sealing contact with the other side of the frame 15. A film of conducting metal oxide and a pair of electrodes may be applied to a surface of one of the sheets 11, 12 for heating to prevent condensation &c.
