Abstract

970,276. Drawing. SCHWERMASCHINENBAU HEINRICH RAU WILDAU VEB. Jan. 26, 1961, No. 3144/61. Heading B3P. A feeding device for a tube drawing machine comprises means mounted in rotatable wheel discs for supporting mandrels which pass through the disc wheels, the supporting means being so arranged that they remain in the same relative angular position to the mandrel on rotation of the disc wheels, one mandrel being in line with a tube drawing die for a predetermined position of the disc wheels. The device comprises a number of stands 1 in each of which can turn a disc wheel 6 through which pass two mandrels 2 which rest on supporting rolls 3. A shaft 4, driven by a unit 5 passes through the base of each stand and carries gears which turn each wheel through 180 degrees about a fixed axle 7. Secured to the axle 7 are sun wheels 8 which mesh with intermediate wheels 9 and which in turn drive planet wheels 10. The rollers 3 are mounted on the planet wheels 10 and remain in the horizontal position when the disc wheels 6 rotate. A limit switch and stops control the rotation of the wheels 6. The ends of the mandrels are mounted in a holder 15 and the mandrel in line with the drawing die is in position to be moved forward by an hydraulic piston 16 and rod 17 to carry the mandrel and a tube thereon into the drawing die. While one tube is being drawn a fresh tube is loaded on to the other mandrel.
