A bending machine comprises an upper roll and two lower rolls and means supporting the lower rolls for adjustment towards and away from the upper roll, the supporting means being pivoted on separate shafts spaced from one another and the paths along which the lower rolls move in their adjustment being disposed in the space between the pivot shafts. The fixed upper roll 2 co-operates with two lower rolls 3 and 4, mounted for rotation in arms 5 and 6 respectively. The arms are pivotably mounted on shafts 7 and 8 and are moved by hydraulic jacks 9 and 10 to adjust the positions of the lower rolls. The roll drive comprises a motordriven pinion 16 meshing with a gear 14 which drives a gear 17 on the upper roll shaft and also two gears 18 and 19, which are freely rotatable on the axis of pivot shafts 7 and 8. The gears 18 and 19 are secured to two smaller gears 20 and 22 which drive gears 21 and 23 secured to the lower roll shafts 12 and 13, so that the meshing of the gears 20, 21 and 22, 23 does not alter as the arms 5 and 6 are moved to adjust the lower rolls. In a modification, Fig. 3 (not shown), the pivot points of the arms 5 and 6 are movable on a locus centred on the axes of the shafts 7 and 8. The upper roller may also be vertically adjustable.
