In a windscreen wiper in which the blade is supported by two arms, the supportihg device includes two articulated parallelograms the first, which allows the orientation of the blade to remain constant, comprising the two arms A1, A2, a crossbar 46 which holds the blade and a connecting link 34; the second, comprising said link 34, two cranks 18, 19 hinged by suitable means to said arms A1, A2, and a second connecting link 40. Spring toggle devices, which permit movement of the blade away from the windscreen, comprise extensions 16, 17 on the cranks 18, 19 near their oscillating axes 30, 36, connected by pivot pins 14, 15, to the arms A1, A2, and hinged by pins 22, 23, to eyelets on the end of the rods 24, 25, within the springs 28, 29. One of the cranks 18, is connected to the motor shaft 30 secured to the windscreen 3, the other crank being pivoted to the connecting link 34.
