Abstract

968,678. Belting. DUNLOP RUBBER CO. Ltd. June 2, 1961 [June 29, 1960], No. 22700/60. Addition to 902,200. Heading F2Q. A belting segment comprises a flexible plastic composition reinforced with substantially parallel unwoven longitudinal cords which are looped at each end of the segment and return into the segment to form linking members 14 and at least one layer of substantially parallel unwoven transverse cords, and fastening members 1 having shanks 4 which are secured in the looped linking members 14 and extend therefrom so as to engage fastening members of a further belting segment. Each shank 4 has an end pin portion 6 which is separated from the main portion by a shoulder 5. A hook member 3 is formed on the opposite side of the shank 4. The fastening members 1 are adapted to engage similar but oppositely arranged fastening members on an adjacent belting segment, the end surfaces of the segments being tapered. The cords may be textile or metal and the flexible plastic composition may be rubber or plasticized polyvinyl chloride.
