Abstract
968,208. Decorating metal surfaces. HOWARD CLAYTON-WRIGHT Ltd. May 7, 1962 [May 26, 1961], No. 19034/61. Drawings to Specification. Heading B6G. Metal or other surfaces may be decorated by cutting or otherwise producing flat or substantially flat devices from a strip or sheet having an adhesive coating or backing on the face which is to be unexposed in use, mounting the devices non-permanently in the desired relationship upon a sheet of flexible transparent plastics material with the faces of the devices which are to be exposed in use contacting one face of the flexible sheet, applying the assembly of sheet and devices to the said surface so that the adhesive-coated sides of the devices engage and adhere to the surface and finally peeling off the flexible sheet from the devices. If desired, the plastics sheet may be coated with an adhesive having a lesser power of adhesion than the adhesive on the devices. Alternatively, each face of the devices may be covered with double-sides adhesive tape with the normally unexposed face of each device having a release paper on the tape. The metal surface may then be painted after applying the devices and before the release paper is removed.
