Abstract

Self-adhesive tape comprises a transparent substrate onto which an adhesive coating is applied. At >=1 place of the tape, a carrier of informative indicia is located. The information carrier is printed paper or a suitably marked plastics film. It is applied with that side carrying the desired information or design facing the adhesive coating. The information carrier may be applied only near the starting end of the reeled-up self-adhesive tape, or evenly spaced along the entire length of the tape. In a variant, the information carrier may be less wide than the tape. It may itself be adhesive-backed but this adhesive backing may be covered by a non-stick film. Adhesive tapes are provided with patterns or designs e.g. for decorative applications, in such a way that the design is exposed to view only in selected placed along the length of the tape, and is also free of residual adhesive when the tape is "peeled off" the reel.
