Abstract
967, 190. Indicating liquid levels. FLIGHT REFUELLING Ltd. April 3, 1963 [April 12, 1962], No. 14234/62. Addition to 811, 129. Heading G1H. The liquid level indicating device of the parent Specification is modified in that the measuring rod carried by the slider 29 is replaced by a measuring tape 33, the liquid level being indicated by markings on the tape. The tube 13 on which the annular float 25, carrying the tubular magnet 26 is mounted may be of stainless steel and the float may be of stainless steel or a plastics material. The liquid may be contained within the inner walls 10, 11 of a double walled container, the space between the inner walls and the outer wall 12 being evacuated. The tube 13'connects with a metal bellows 18 and a fitting 19 with a cap 22 and valve 24 through which the tube may be evacuated. To obtain a reading, the vacuum in the tube 13 is released, the cap 22 removed and the slider 29 lowered into the tube until its movement is arrested by the magnetic coupling between it and the magnet 26, the mark on the tape level with the top of the fitting 19 being observed.
