998, 904. Liquid level Indication. J. FAIRHURST. June 2, 1964 [June 14, 1963], No. 23746/63. Heading G1H. In a liquid level detector in which a weight 14 at the end of a line or tape 13 is magnetically coupled to an annular float 22 vertically movable outside a non-ferrous tube 16 sealed to the body of vessel 10 containing liquid, there is provided a second tube 15 which surrounds the tube 16 so as to leave an annular space 17 which is normally sealed from the vessel 10 and is connected to a detector device such as a pressure gauge 19 to indicate any change in the annular space 17 due to infiltration of any liquid or gas from the vessel 10. A further vertically movable magnet may be provided in the space 17. A spring biased pinion actuated by a knob 26 is provided to lower the weight 14 into operative region with the magnetic float 22.
