Abstract

966,994. Driving auxiliary apparatus. RANSOMES & RAPIER Ltd. Feb. 26, 1962 [March 1, 1961], No. 7535/61. Heading B7H. [Also in Division F2] The delivery of an hydraulic pump 13 is temporarily reduced substantially to zero during gear changing in a mixing and transport vehicle for concrete having an engine 1, clutch 2, a gear-box 3 with gearing of the sliding dog or gear type for propelling the vehicle and a powertake-off shaft 7 driven from the gear-box 3 driving mixing drum 22 through hydraulic pump 13, motor 18 and gearing 20, 21. Depression of clutch pedal 8 during gear changing disengages clutch 2 and through linkage 25, 24 moves delivery control rod 23 of pump 13 into the substantially zero delivery position, normal delivery being restored when pedal 8 is released at the completion of the gear change. Operation of manual control lever 9B at the rear of the vehicle moves rod 23, against spring pressure, past the no-delivery position to reverse pump 13 and hence drum 22 for unloading. In modified constructions the clutch pedal and manual drum reversing controls comprise either electric switches or fluid flow control valves. According to the Provisional Specification the delivery of pump 13 may be controlled by a hand grip on the gear lever.
