Abstract

1,271,415. Hydrostatic transmission. ROBERT BOSCH G.m.b.H. 12 Aug., 1969 [13 Aug., 1968], No. 40256/69. Heading F2D. An hydrostatic transmission for a fork-lift truck comprises an adjustable pump 2 connected to a motor 3 driving a wheel 4, the pump being adjusted by a servomotor 6 to which control fluid is delivered by an engine-driven auxiliary pump 15 through a line 14 and a reversing valve 33, the line 14 being also connected by lines 16 and 24 to multiposition throttle valves 18, 26 positioned by a brake pedal 19 and a throttle pedal 27 respectively, to control the servo 6 and hence pump 2. As shown, with the brake and throttle pedals released, valve 18 is closed and valve 26 is fully open to relieve line 14 and allow springs 9 and 10 in servo 6 to hold the pump in neutral. On depressing the throttle pedal 27, valve 26 begins to close to allow line pressure 14 to rise and the pump displacement to be increased. On depressing brake pedal 19 to brake the truck through linkage 21, line 14 is relieved and the truck stops. The throttle pedal is still depressed to allow full engine-power to be used to raise the forks, partial brake release allowing inching drive of the truck. Again, Fig. 2, (not shown), the brake valve 18 is replaced by a spool valve acted on at one end by pressure in the main pump/motor line, and at the other end by the brake pedal 19 which is also acted on by opposing springs.
