Abstract

966,381. Mine roof supporting bars. COAL INDUSTRY (PATENTS) Ltd. Sept. 14, 1960 [Sept. 14, 1959], No. 31267/59. Heading E1E. An articulated resilient mine roof or floor assembly, Fig. 4, comprises bars 15, 17 which are interconnected by a tongue and fork connection, the bar 15 being bored to receive a bushing 18 and the forks 16 of the bar 17 carrying a part-spherical pin 20 bonded to the member 18 by rubber. The end portions of the pin 20 may be square or cylindrical. In a modification, Fig. 5, the bar 15 carries a two-part bushing 21 which is secured by flanged rings 23 bonded to sleeves 25 by rubber bushes 24. In a second modification, Fig. 6, a recessed bulbous end 34 of a bar 35 is keyed to a member 30 bonded by rubber 32 to a pad 29 which is fixed to the bar 28, a seating 26 being provided as shown.
