Abstract

943,687. Resilient supports. HAMILTON KENT MANUFACTURING CO. July 19, 1960 [Sept. 18, 1959], No. 25101/60. Heading F2S. In a bridge support assembly load carrying members 22, 23 are supported by elastomeric, e.g. rubber or plastic, pads 20 resting on a fixed support 25 and the pads have openings extending from one side to the other permitting relative displacement of the top and bottom surfaces of the pad when thermal expansion or contraction of the load-carrying members occurs. The openings may be disposed on the exterior surfaces and/or within the interior confines of the pad and may themselves have at least a partially cylindrical configuration (Figs. 3, 5, 6, not shown) or, alternatively, define portions of pad having such a configuration (Figs. 4, 6, not shown).
