Abstract

966,168. Fuel injection engines. DAIMLERBENZ A.G. April 22, 1963 [April 25, 1962], No. 15844/63. Heading F1B. In an overhead valve injection engine, the space under the rocker box cover 13 is divided into a space B, into which the upper end of the injection nozzle 14 opens and through which run the fuel pipes 15, 16, and a space A containing the valve gear 12, the two spaces being sealed from one another to prevent fuel leaking from the nozzle or fuel pipes from diluting the lubricating oil. The space B is formed by a trough 17 on the cylinder head mating through a gasket 20 with depending walls 18, 19, on the cover 13. The nozzle body is sealed by a packing ring and the fuel supply pipe 15 passes through a resilient support 21 whilst the fuel leakage pipe 16 from the nozzle passes directly through the head. Fuel leaking into the space B escapes through a drain port 22.
