Abstract
933,020. Fuel injectors. BRYCE BERGER Ltd. Feb. 22, 1962 [March 14, 1961; Dec. 12, 1961], Nos. 9246/61 and 44507/61. Class 7(3). [Also in Group XXVIII]. The fuel supply union 1 of a fuel injector is sealed by a sealing ring 8 acted upon by resilient means 10. The union 1 is sealed at its inner end by a packing ring 7 and the ring 8 is urged against a recess in the union 1 by a spring loaded sleeve 9 having a chamfered end. The spring 10 may be a helical spring or a spring washer. A leakage fuel passage has an outlet 4 closed by a threaded plug 2 and a screwed valve 6 in the passage is sealed by a spring-loaded resilient sealing ring 12 covered by a metal cover 13. The threaded space between the seals 7, 8, is connected to the leakage passage to drain off fuel leaking past the seal 7 along the threads 3. In the injector Fig. 2, leakage fuel escapes past a spring loaded valve 19 to a leakage bore 20 and fuel leaking along the threads of the nozzle nut 16 is drained to the passage 20 by a bore 22.
