Abstract

965,654. Windscreen wiper blades. TRICO-FOLBERTH Ltd. Feb. 6, 1961 [Feb. 5, 1960], No. 4203/60. Heading A4F. A windscreen wiper blade comprises a harness 10 backing strip 6 and a wiper rubber arranged so that the wiping lip on the rubber rocks during wiping about a rocking axis or neck 8, and the rubber is formed with lateral fins of rows of projections 2 which engage the windscreen substantially in a plane passing through the neck 8 and normal to the windscreen on the application of sufficient wiping pressure, thus limiting lay over of the wiping lip in conditions of exessive drag without the wiping lip losing contact with the windscreen. A bead 4 anchors the rubber in the backing strip 6 and flanges 14 prevent claws 9 holding the backing strip 6 on the harness 10, from touching the windscreen. The triangular enlargement 3 may be cut away at each pair of claws 9 as shown by dotted lines in Fig. 5 to improve the distribution of wiping pressure along the rubber.
