Abstract
965,518. Gas burners; hot blast stoves. ZIMMERMANN & JANSEN G.m.b.H. Feb. 4, 1963, [Feb. 14, 1962], No. 4492/63. Headings F4K and F4T. A valve 34 is interposed between the head of a gas burner and a hot blast stove to cut off the supply of combustion mixture and to protect the burner head from the heat of the stove when on blast. The burner comprises an outer tube 38 supplied with gas through a pipe 16 and an inner concentric tube 38 supplied with air through a pipe 20. The burner head 32 is mounted in the downstream end of the inner tube 38 and comprises a tube 44 having swirl baffles 52 and an outer assembly 50 of baffles which form channels 58 directing the gas inwardly and further channels 60 directing part of the air outwardly. Further baffles are disposed in the channels to create turbulence. In a modification, Figs. 5, 6 (not shown), the tube 44 is replaced by a formation of baffles extending into the outer conduit to break up the gas flow, and forming air channels of triangular section.
