Abstract

965,411. Lubricating spinning-rings. JAMES MACKIE & SONS Ltd. Feb. 6, 1961 [Feb. 10, 1960], No. 4714/60. Heading D1D. [Also in Division F2] Each ring 8 of a spinning frame is periodically lubricated by an adjacent nozzle which has an inner pipe 1 surrounded by an annular pipe 3 to convey oil and pressurised air respectively and thus form an oil spray. The oil is gravity-fed from a reservoir 20 and passes through a constant head device 21 and a non-return valve 22, to a chamber 5 in the nozzle. The pressurised air is supplied through a cut-off valve 30, a main pipe 17, a pipe 16, a valve 15 actuated by a plunger 25 operated by a cam 26 on a common shaft 27, pipes 14,13, to a pipe 2 connected to the nozzle. The directed spray impinges on the ring 8 which, having apertures 9 therein, is also lubricated on its outer surface.
