Abstract
964,992. Colour television tubes. PHILCO CORPORATION. June 23, 1961 [June 23, 1960], No. 22815/61. Heading H1D. In a colour television tube employing indexing stripes, these stripes 15 overlie the junctions between the colour stripes 11, 12, 13, but the colour stripes need not abut each other. A light-reflecting aluminium layer intervenes. The indexing stripes may be secondary emissive or may emit light in the non-visible range. The indexing stripes also serve as guard elements. Alternate stripes 15 may be inactive or at least relatively inactive. This may be achieved by depositing active and inactive phosphors in separate applications; applying masking material, such as aluminium, or poisoning material to active material; or applying active material to inactive material.
