Abstract
1331550 Colour television tubes PHILIPS ELECTRONIC & ASSOCIATED INDUSTRIES Ltd 23 Dec 1971 [29 Dec 1970] 59964/71 Heading H4F [Also in Divisoin H1] In a colour television display tube of the index type, the width of the index strips increases from a central area to the edges in order to equalize the signal pick up from them by an external photo-multiplier tube. The increase is preferably by a factor of at least 1À5, and in one example the centre strips are 0À1 mm. wide at their centres increasing to 0À15 mm. wide at their ends, and the edge strips are 0À15 mm. wide at their centres increasing to 2 mm. wide at their ends. The screen may comprise phosphor strips interleaved with inactive strips and covered with a reflective layer on which the index strips are located in positions overlying alternate inactive strips. The width of the phosphor strips may decrease towards the edges.
