Abstract

1,223,953. Colour television tubes.. R.C.A. CORPORATION. 21 April, 1969 [19 April, 1968], No. 20251/69. Heading HID. A colour television receiver tube of the type provided with indexing strips 24 is characterized in that the edges of the strip are serrated so that the harmonic content of the output signal is reduced. The serrations may be rectangular, as shown in Fig. 2, and should extend for a distance nD/12 where D is the distance between strips and n is 1, 3 or 5; alternatively they may be castellated (Fig. 7, not shown) and extend a distance D/9, or rounded into a sine wave (Fig. 9, not shown) and extend a distance 0À133 D. The strips may be of ultra-violet fluorescent material, the light from which passes through a window in the tube to an external photo-cell, or of secondary-emissive material, and may be deposited on an aluminium backing 22 of a multi-line luminescent screen. The scanning beam is preferably elliptical, as shown at 32.
