Abstract

964,518. Moulding tubes for retractable pens. DAVID KAHN Inc. Feb. 21, 1961, No. 6307/61. Heading B5A. [Also in Division B6] In a synthetic plastic cartridge tube for a retractable pen having one or more lateral projections integral with the tube near one end thereof to form a seat for a retracting spring, the projections are formed by cold-working of the plastic of the tube. As shown, the reservoir or cartridge tube 1 terminates in a writing point 2 and has arcuate lateral projections 3. The tube is transparent or translucent and is made of nylon or an alkylene high polymer, e.g. a high density polyethylene or polypropylene. Projections 3 are made by compressing the tube between dies 10, 10<SP>1</SP> in the cold, either before or after the tube is filled with ink. Specification 854,313 is referred to.
