Abstract

A soap composition, particularly in bar form, contains as a lime soap dispersant an alkali or alkaline earth metal or ammonium salt, preferably the sodium or magnesium salt, of a mixture of sulphonated aryl-substituted alkanes of formula <FORM:0964456/C4-C5/1> wherein n is 9-15, m is 0 to n-1/2 when n is odd and m is 0 to n/2 when n is even. The lime soap dispersant generally comprises 10-30% by weight of the soap, and the composition may also include fatty acids, perfume, pigment, preservative, deodorant and germicide.
