Abstract
964,390. Liquid conductivity measuring apparatus. WAYNE KERR LABORATORIES Ltd., R. CALVERT, and J. MILDWATER. Feb. 19, 1963 [Feb. 19, 1962], No. 6288/62. Heading G1N. In an arrangement for determining the conductivity of a liquid flowing through a pipe 10, Fig. 1, the potential between electrodes 16, 17, arising from a current between electrodes 11, 12 from an A.C. source 13, is applied to a winding 22 of a transformer 15 through an adjustable transfer impedance device 18, comprising a high-gain amplifier 19 having adjustable input and feedback resistances 20, 21, and the output from device, 18 is compared with the current through winding 14 of the transformer in a null indicator 24,the ratio of the magnitudes of the feed back and input resistor for a null reading providing an indication of the conductivity. In a modification described with reference to Fig. 2 (not shown) the null indicator is replaced by a servomotor arranged to regulate the impedance in the feedback path to achieve balance and to energize a recorder. The arrangement may operate an alarm at a predetermined value.
