Abstract

A composition, suitable for the production of shoe-soles, comprises a styrene-butadiene resinous copolymer containing a major proportion of styrene-butadiene-styrene synthetic rubber having low Mooney viscosity characteristics and an oil-extended styrene-butadiene synthetic rubber. The resinous copolymer may contain from 80 to 90 parts of styrene, the low Mooney rubber from 85 to 65 parts butadiene with a viscosity ML-4 of 35 at 212 DEG F. The oil extended rubber may contain 80 to 75 parts butadiene and 20 to 35% oil which may be a naphthenic oil. There may also be present a natural rubber or a synthetic rubber of medium Mooney viscosity characteristics. The compositions may contain the usual additives for rubber compositions such as a filler, vulcanising agent, vulcanisation accelerator, antioxidant, antiozonant and flowing agents and may be vulcanised.
