Abstract
964,003. Control systems for high pressure discharge lamps. LICENTIA PATENT VERWALTUNGS-G.m.b.H. Nov. 4, 1960, No. 37990/60. Heading H2H. A D.C. pulse derived from the stored magnetic energy in an induotor 6 energized from a source 1 through a resistor 10 and switch 4, is discharged by opening the switch 4 through an H.P. vapour lamp 8 the lamp being fed also with an A.C. impulse from an igniter 7 energized from an A.C. source 2 through a switch 5. When the A.C. superimposed D.C. pulse has initiated the lamp discharge, the maintaining current is derived from the source 1 through the inductor 6 and a regulating variable resistance 9. The sequence of initiating switching comprising closure of switch 3, closure of switch 5, opening of switch 4, and opening of switch 5 may be effected automatically by, for instance, time delay relays.
