[Also in Division F1] A machine for wrapping loaves comprises a conveyer 12 for feeding a loaf 11 on to a platform 14 of the machine, a web 16 of wrapping material being held against the forward face of the loaf by a frictionally-movable member 17 so that the web is partially wrapped around the loaf as it is deposited on the platform. Members 19 carried by pivots 22 on the platform are swung under the control of a lever 24, 27 and a cam-and-follower mechanism 28, 29 to fold the web against the ends of the loaf. The platform 14 is then raised to the level of a delivery conveyer 63 by an hydraulic piston- and-cylinder device 32 (Division F1) supplied with fluid pressure from a master cylinder 84 controlled by a follower 91 in a groove 92 of a rotatable cam 93. During the upward movement of the loaf, plates 62 fold the top edges of the web over the ends of the loaf, and a roller on arms 33 moved by a linkage 36, 37 and cam-and-follower mechanism 38, 39 draws a length of web from a loop 41 down the rear face and below the base of the loaf. The web is then cut by a knife 44 operated by a linkage 52 and cam-and-follower mechanism 54, 56, the web being clamped during cutting by a member 61 connected by a link 57 and lever 58 to the lever 51 of the knife. Thereafter, the loaf is moved by a plate 66 secured to a carriage 67 moved by an hydraulic piston-and-cylinder device 71 controlled in the same manner as the device 32 on to the delivery conveyer 63, the forward edge of which folds the web against the bottom face of the loaf while members 64 plough the web upwardly into the end faces of the loaf. A pusher 76 is secured to the carriage 67 by a lever 74 and dashpots 73 and, as the wrapped loaf is moved on to the conveyer, moves a previously-wrapped loaf between sealing belts 77.
