Abstract

1314057 Packaging machines DUFAYLITE DEVELOPMENTS Ltd 19 Aug 1971 [20 Aug 1970] 40118/70 Heading B8C In a packaging machine, articles, e.g. apples are fed into an expanded honeycomb 17 supported on a separator sheet 16, the sheet 16 is lowered, and a further sheet 16a and honeycomb 17a is placed on the filled honeycomb 17. The sheet 16 is lowered into a box 4 by means of supports 6 passing through apertures in the box-base and connected to an hydraulic/ pneumatic actuator 9. The honeycomb is expanded by means of a stationary suction gripper and a movable gripper 18a. The apples are fed from a supply 26 on to a pivoted tray 24 which has wheels 23 running on ramps 25 secured to a reciprocable tray 21. As the latter tray 21 advances over the honeycomb, the other tray 24 tilts so that apples roll on to the reciprocating tray 21. The apples are swept into the honeycomb by a plate 28.
